Make Your Phone Old · Effective 8 October 2026
Make Your Phone Old is an Android Home screen (launcher). It is built to work entirely on your phone.
What the app does not do
- It has no account, no sign-in, no ads, and no analytics.
- It does not collect, sell, or share personal data.
- It makes no network requests. Release builds do not request Android's internet permission.
- It does not read your notifications, contacts, messages, location, calendar, photos, or files, except an image you explicitly choose as Home art (below).
What stays on your phone
- Your launcher settings: favorite apps and their order, hidden apps, display choice (Ink or Retro), Home art, text size, and feedback settings. They are stored in the app's private storage.
- The list of installed apps. The app asks Android for the apps you can launch so it can show and open them. This list and the app icons are cached on the phone only.
- A personal image, if you choose one as Home art. It is copied into the app's private storage and shown in two colours. Your original is not changed. Removing it in Settings deletes the copy.
Backups
"Back up" in Settings creates a file containing your launcher settings and gives it to Android's share sheet. Where it goes is your choice; the app never sends it anywhere by itself. "Restore" reads only a backup file you pick.
Removing your data
Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. "Reset launcher" in Settings clears your settings without uninstalling.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
